Asymmetrical Angle Hooping with Rico (France)

Asymmetrical Angle Hooping is a technique to hoop vertically while keeping the body in an upright position. This effect is achieved with a combination of belly-dance and contact-staff skills. Rico developed a special curriculum to teach angle hooping. In his class students acquire a suite of moves and postures which serve as a foundation on which to build angle hooping as a way to allow waves of movement.

Rico is a French-born “troubadour” and hoop-performer. After finishing school, Rico worked as a fire performer in Spain and spent a lot of time traveling across Europe & Asia with different circus companies. Rico has performed onstage at the EU Fusion Festival, The BoomFestival, hoopcamp 2011/ 2012, Burning Man. He’s taught advanced hooping classes at the UK Hoop Gathering 2009/2010 , Swhoop 2013, Miami Flow-fest 2012, also in Barcelona, Amsterdam, Mexico. He is also organizing the first French hoop convention: “spin ta galette”. and now the Spin Camp at the EJC2013 in France called Galactic Playground

Multihooping and Circus Tricks with Satya (Australia/London)

Official workshop description to come soon, but as an idea…. this workshop will cover multihooping skills for all levels (whether you’ve never hooped with more than 1 or you’re working with 5 hoops!) as well as some shiny circus style tricks from the master herself! Please bring 2 or more hoops of the same size.

Satya is an international performer and teacher who has nurtured her passion for hula hoops for over 6 years now. She studied the art of hula hooping whilst training at BJIAS Beijing Acrobatic School, China. Starting out with bamboo hoops in traditional circus multi-hoop style and has since developed and adapted her hooping style to create a fusion of hoop dance, circus style multi-hoop, rhythmic gymnastic tricks, and hoop spinning.

She has performed in over 30 countries both solo and as part of the world renowned fire troupe ’FlameOz’ and has taught hoops at London’s Circus Space – regarded as one of the top 3 circus schools in Europe. Satya enjoys teaching and as more and more people are joining the hoop revolution she is excited to pass on her knowledge.

Living on the Edge aka 1 & 2 Hoop Madness with Bags (Bristol)

A deliciously cavalcade of accessible single and twin moves using the edges of your hoop. Please bring two light hoops.

Bags is a professional teacher and performer from the UK who has been formally trained at Circomedia – Europe’s leading centre for contemporary circus and physical theatre. He has taught hooping at prominent events all over the UK, Europe and the US as well as being a teacher on Hoop City and Hooping University. He founded the Bristol Hoop Massive and the UK hoop website The Hoop Hub and has won or been nominated for multiple Hoopies and Revolvies (this year he jointly won the Male Hooper of the Year Hoopie!) He is an innovative and multi-disciplined performer who has a strong passion for circus in all its forms – but just at the moment you’re unlikely to find him anywhere other than inside a hoop!

Creative Hoop Dance with Henna (Finland)

Prepare to let go! In this workshop Henna will teach some body movement techniques and how to throw yourself into dance with and without hoop. You’ll learn how to use the rhythm of the breath to influence your movement. Henna’s motto is ‘the weirder the better’, so let’s get involved!

Henna has a background in contemporary dance, ballet and theatre, but when she started hooping in 2006 it changed her life! She is an open and supportive teacher and has travelled around Latvia, Germany, Sweden and England to share her workshops and performances.
